Comprehensive
Compartmentation Surveys
& Fire Door Inspections
GENERAL HOSPITAL
project Overview
Premier Compliance carried out comprehensive compartmentation surveys and fire door inspections at the hospital. The team assessed the condition and compliance of fire doors and inspected fire compartment walls for integrity during a fire.
Over 14,000 breaches were recorded throughout the hospital. Each breach was catalogued in an asset list with details including dimensions, service type, and exact location on drawings to assist with managing fire-stopping and partitioning works.
These surveys enabled the Trust to tender work packages and subsequently engage Premier Compliance for further fire safety inspections across its facilities.
Given the hospital’s busy environment, Premier Compliance strategically deployed resources to minimise disruption. Work was planned and executed around the client’s operational schedule, including off-peak hours such as nights and weekends.
Resources were scaled as needed, bringing in additional personnel for critical tasks or tight deadlines. The team surveyed fire dampers, fire doors, and compartment walls, and provided both immediate and long-term remedial recommendations to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
Access to sensitive clinical areas required coordination with hospital staff and adherence to strict safety protocols, ensuring patient care was never compromised.

RESULTS
The project delivered measurable improvements in fire safety compliance and infrastructure:
Enhanced Safety Compliance
14,000 breaches documented; 50 fire doors restored to compliance.
Improved Fire Safety Systems
Supervision of the installation of 40+ new fire doors, strengthening compartmentation and reducing fire spread risk.
Actionable Insights
Comprehensive reports and drawings supported the client’s successful £35 million funding bid for further safety improvements.
Minimal Disruption
All work was carefully scheduled around hospital operations, ensuring continuity of care.
